How are children selected for Patron Nepal Sponsorship?

At Patron Nepal, our efforts have always been focused on providing aid and support to the most vulnerable Nepali children and their families who are among the poorest of the poor and the lowest socio-economic level of the community. The selection process is strict, with two different social workers assessing each family. A tea leader will then also conduct a family visit for the purpose of verifying that all the information which was received is correct. The selection process takes into consideration factors such as the family structure, vulnerability of the child, the family poverty level, the child's health, including any disabilities, the conditions in which the child lives.

Those children who are candidates for sponsorship often live in single roomed structures which are typically wood framed with mud walls, without any facilities, and come from single parent; often female-headed, households with an incredibly low-income level, and receive two meals per day, and are malnourished. Some of the children in these homes live with disabilities and suffer from extremely difficult family situations such as alcoholism, mental health problems, extreme poverty, and disease. As a result, too many children in Nepal do not have the opportunity to reach their full potential and your vital contribution can help change that. Recent natural disasters; including earhtquakes in 2015, which had devastating consequences, and in 2017 the worst flooding in fiften (15) years caused by monsoons, in addition to landslides, have displaced many thousands of families, making an already frail economic situation considerably worse.

Statistics show that worldwide, some 6 million children under the age of 5 (five) die each year, mostly from preventable or treatable causes such as pneumonia, diarrhoea and malaria. Due to the effort of Patron Nepal Program Volunteers, access to life-saving, as well as, preventive health care needs are being provided to expectant mothers, infants, children of all ages and their families.
